The e-commerce website – using Shopify as the CMS and e-commerce management tool and payment tool – we built for Oswell’s is close to being launched, as is their shop in Barnard Castle in Durham. Here is proof of just how close when John Charge was caught on camera putting up the signage we designed for them. These are just part of the brand design we did for them which will roll-out alongside the website.

Come back and visit this site over the next month to see the website and other brand applications.

We are pleased to announce and show off our new design studio. It is an old village hall that was built by the American troops to say thanks for the locals – mainly ladies – hospitality during the Second World War. It is also just 100m from an excellent 17th century pub, The Long Arms and is set in a beautiful rural setting just 20 minutes from Bath. So if you’re in the area why don’t you pop in for a visit.

Early last year we designed a brand for Heart – the woodburner people – based in Bristol. Since then we have been slowly rolling out on all manner of items including advertising and vans to name but two. We will be showcasing the brand very soon on this website but in the meantime here is a sneak preview of the matchbox slipcase leave-behind.

The brief was to think of a gift that could be given to the customer after a woodburner installation as both a way of thanks and a vehicle for keeping the contact details they need at hand for servicing and inquisitive friends or neighbours. A slipcase for a box of extra-long matches seemed like a practical and attractive keep-sake. Fashioned out of anodised aluminium the case was spring loaded to hold the box snuggly and open along one edge to allow the strike to be accessible. A laser-engraved Heart logo badged the item while the details on the reverse offered the call-to-action.

Here is a logo we designed for a New Zealand modern chamber music group back in 2007. It has a stylised z and 3 which was considered smart enough to get noticed at the NZ Best Design Awards in 2007. Incidentally the z also sports a Kõru which is a Mãori symbol for renewal or birth and is as Kiwi as Fush and Chups. The job was worked on with Daniel Thurston from 4i’s.

If you are a not-for-profit social enterprise charged with both encouraging individuals to walk and convincing corporate/community-based organisations of its social merits then it is imperative you ‘walk the walk’ as well as ‘talk the talk’.

We helped Walk England do just that by helping them find their voice with their three target audiences – consumer (walkers), corporate and community (local authorities, central government, schools, health professionals and environmental organisations). First, we re-articulated their offer in a straight-forward manner. Then we created a brand platform and a brand visual identity sophisticated enough to be able to resonate coherently with all their stakeholders.

Above are the business cards (above). They demonstrate the logo, some of the colour palette and typography in use. The reverse of the cards accommodate personal experiences of the staff members favourite ‘round-trip’ walk.

A full brand design case study can be seen here
