Maven Wines

Other NZ wine brands tend to draw inspiration from their European cousins to create a false feeling of heritage. We differentiated Maven by adopting a truly Kiwi approach to rustic. This gave the brand and the packaging design differentiation in the market. The result proved to be enthralling for the UK and US market and heart-warming for the domestic one.

And the packaging won a Bronze in UK Wine & Spirit’s 2007 Design and Packaging awards.

Not often does a label inspire this column, although to be fair the wine behind it is pretty good and a worthy addition to anyone’s summer cellar. But it is the label that sets it apart from what is generally a very fine 2005 vintage for Marlborough sauvignon blanc producers.
